Microsoft Plans to Introduce the New Xbox This Summer
If you’re a gamer, news of a new console is certainly a joy to hear. What makes this even better is that this new console coming out is being brought to us by Microsoft, one of the forerunners in today’s gaming industry. The Xbox 360 was released in 2005, so I would say that Microsoft is due to unveil another console. The Xbox 360 has basically been the big success from this current generation of gaming, so gamers are excited to learn about this new console.
While not much is known regarding the new system, there is some speculation about what the system will consist of. Just like Sony releasing information on the PlayStation 4 on their own terms, Microsoft intends to do something very similar. It is said that Microsoft is to reveal its next console sometime in late May.
Gearing up to unveil a new console always comes with rumors, and this new Xbox system is certainly no exception. There have been countless rumors that this new Xbox model must be connected to the internet 24/7. Again, this is a rumor, but I absolutely cannot see this happening. Many people out there do not have constant access to the internet, especially those who live out in rural areas. I certainly hope this rumor is just that…a rumor. I cannot see what good it would do to have the console connected to the internet all day, everyday.
Another huge rumor is that the new system will not possess the ability to play used games. New games would have to have a one-use only game code in order to play on the system. This could certainly cause many problems: retail stores like Gamestop would not be able to sell used games for this system to their customers and there would be no way to share your favorite games with your friends.
On the positive side, the new Xbox is said to pack quite a punch. With a 500 GB hard drive, this system will contain great storage for add-on content as well as your game files. It is also rumored to be able to play Blu Ray discs as well as a built in DVR to record live TV.
As stated earlier, not much is known about this new Xbox, but I suspect more will be revealed at this year’s E3 convention. E3 (the Electronic Entertainment Expo) is generally the place where anything and everything gaming is discussed. Like most gamers out there, I am extremely anxious to see what Microsoft has up its sleeves for this new Xbox. What do you think?
