It’s That Time of Year Again
Baseball season is upon us.

It’s the middle of February, the Super Bowl is over, and that only means one thing: its baseball season. While its true baseball has taken a backseat to football in terms of popularity in recent years, baseball remains America’s pastime.
There’s a line in the movie “Moneyball” where Brad Pitt’s character (Oakland Athletics’ general manager Billy Beane) says “It’s hard not to be romantic about baseball.” That line might not mean much to the casual fan. However, to those who eat, sleep, and breathe baseball, it masterfully reflects how they feel about the game.
There’s something about baseball that makes it special. Perhaps it’s because unlike many other sports, baseball isn’t restricted by a clock. Or maybe it’s because baseball has a way of taking us back in time. Back to when we were all little league all-stars; when it wasn’t all about winning but instead about having fun and playing the game the right way.
At its heart baseball is a children’s game. At a young age, baseball is accessible to almost anyone. However, only a select few are fortunate to play beyond the high school level. An even smaller group goes on to play professionally and only the elite make it to “the show.”
Whether you’re still playing competitively or simply just a fan, baseball season evokes emotions that no other sport can. After all it’s like “Billy Beane” says “It’s hard not to be romantic about baseball.”
