A week ago, February 10th, PNC hosted its first ever Midnight Bash (aka a lock-in). Many of the readers may not have ever heard of this event before and that was for good reason: the trial run was for club members only. This event was originally thought up by Student Governments President Cassandra Chester and Vice President Sean Casey, as a way to try to get better communication between the various student clubs and club members on PNC’s campus. However, it was not just these two who made the event happen. The whole PNC student government pulled their efforts together and as a whole were responsible for making the event run smoothly. Admission to the event was free so groups were encouraged to try and send members to the event to get a better understanding of what is happening on campus.
The night started off with a snow storm that started around noon on Friday and due to this only about 40 of the 75 club members were able to attend. This however, did not stop the event from happening and the night featured a power point presentation and walkthrough of the PNN website, a group discussion about upcoming events on campus, and the distribution of a detailed marketing handbook to all of the club members. The remainder of the night consisted of the club members bonding while playing an assortment of video games and board games, and watching movies on the projector screen. Games played throughout the duration of the night included a madden tournament, Cranium, Clue, and so much more. Pizza, desserts, drinks and chips were also provided all night to those who were hungry.
Overall the night was a success based off of feedback that came from participants in the event. The ones who were able to make it did not let the snow dampen their moods and made the best of the situation and ended up having a lot of fun. For those who are reading this and are “thinking this sounds like so much fun and I wish I could have a attended”, do not fret because the PNC student Government is planning on hosting another Midnight Bash during the fall semester with one thing changing: it will be open to all students on campus.
